About me

I’m originally from Llanberis in Snowdonia.

As a teenager I spent many summer afternoons watching people rock climbing in Vivian Quarry while thinking  to myself “I wish I could do that!” but didn’t know anyone who was in to climbing plus I didn’t have money to buy lots of climbing gear.

Throughout my life I’ve lived in various parts of the UK and had many jobs, I never did get in to climbing, that is, until my 40s!
After attending some climbing courses and with social media making it easy to find climbing partners, it finally happened!

Over the next few years I gained more personal experience and decided I’d like to work as a climbing instructor, instead of working indoors staring at a computer screen for the rest of my life. So I’m now a fully qualified Rock Climbing Instructor, a UK “Mountain Training Association” qualification allowing me to professionally take people climbing.

I’ve also completed BMC FUNdamentals 1 & 2, courses aimed at coaching climbers in basic movement skills, balance, agility, technique and developing climbing ability.

I can provide “Rock Skills Introduction”, a course ideal for beginner climbers who have never climbed outdoors and those with limited experience climbing indoors.
Then also “Rock Skills Intermediate” for anyone who’d like to improve movement skills, develop ropework skills and perhaps start learning about placing traditional climbing protection in the rock while outdoors.

I also have level 2 outdoor first aid training and public liability insurance.
